Hi,
My name is Elida “Toops” Wallack and I have been teaching for Peaches Dance and Music since it’s opening in Miami
35 years ago. I teach lyrical, contemporary, ballet, jazz and modern dance. I am also a choreographer for many of the PDM company groups and soloists. I look forward to each new year with all of our talented students!
My Story
Elida has been dancing since the age of 5 when she took her first dance class with her sister, Leslie "Peaches" Gettis. She trained in Miami, Florida with Martha Mahr, Thomas Armor, and Freddick Bratcher, among other renowned instructors from New World School of the Arts where she attended high school and college. She also received full scholarships to study at The San Francisco School of Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Ballet Aspen and the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. She has appeared on several TV shows, including Star Search. Elida danced as a soloist for the Miami Ballet Company and as a soloist with Fredrick Bratcher and Company for 10 years. She began teaching at the age of 15 and has won choreography and top dance teacher awards from numerous national dance competitions. Her dance teams have also received top awards on regional and national levels. She was a teacher for 25 years at Peaches School of Dance in Miami and was also the head of the Dance department at Miami Country Day School for three years before relocating to Orlando with her husband and two children. Since moving to Orlando, Elida has been a dance teacher for the after school program at Windermere Preparatory School and has been the choreographer for several of the school's musical theater productions. She has helped her sister with the opening of Peaches Dance and Music Orlando and is extremely excited to continue her passion for teaching.
